“The Ethereal
Taste of Flowers”

The photography of 3D paper production that represents the article of "The Ethereal
Taste of Flowers".

This project is translating the article into 3D paper-based production. The article “The ethereal taste of flowers” from New York Times magazine describes the appeal of floral flavours and the relation between taste and smell. The mandate of this project as a graphic designer is conceptualizing, art directing, and producing a primarily paper-based set design for an editorial piece of writing.

N

Process

My team came up with the idea of making flowers out of paper and putting them on the plate as a dinner, based on their statement that we also use flowers as an ingredient and can offer as a meal. A plate with a texture was chosen to communicate the feeling of an elegant and luxurious plate, and only the flowers were colored to emphasize and reflect the various tastes of flowers. The camera perspective portrays the viewer’s viewpoint of eating flowers as we are eating a cereal bowl.

Outcome

A lot of ideas and good influences came from team working. Working together as a team the greater benefits accrue to me and our result of project. I was able to maintain the reader’s attention and interest by indicating the photo as the viewer’s point of view throughout the vibrant flowers with real plates and utensils.
